TinyURL
The TinyURL website converts a long url into a short alias. However with rising criticism that TinyURLs are opaque and it hides the ultimate destination from the user, it now allows a user to land in a preview page first in the TinyURL website itself with a preview of the final link. Clicking the link here leads the user to the final destination. This is a two step process to access a web address. Also in case of email clients with limitations to the length of a url, the hyperlink option could be used instead. For example, to redirect users to a website (with a lengthy url) from an email, it could read "To visit this website click here", and click here could be hyperlinked. So how are tiny urls which are generated by the TinyURL website useful and usable besides being easy to write down, remember or pass around?
